Two student teams of the University of Western Macedonia (UOWM), which were formed under the guidance of the Institution’s Entrepreneurship Unit, stood out among 290 proposals in the GreenTech Challenge, held on the 8th, 9th and 10th December.
The GreenTech Challenge is the country’s largest green innovation programme, scientifically supervised by the UNESCO Chair on Green Innovation and Circular Economy and run by Mantis Beyond Innovation with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
The programme’s main goal is to highlight new innovative ideas from start-ups, innovative SMEs, students, and researchers in the field of Environment and Energy, connect them with successful established companies and analyze critical issues to address environmental challenges using green technologies.
The “Adamant” team, consisting of Filippos Xagoraris, Spyros Chirdaris, Marios Ziokos and Yiannis Ketroi, won the second prize of the competition in the Innovation Idea Holders category, while the “Walkbag” team, with Orfeas Patellis, Emmanuela-Chrysoula Sarri, Efthymia Karra, Kyriaki Toufektsidou and Nikoletta Zafeiriou, won the audience award.
These distinctions demonstrate in practice the important role of the University of Western Macedonia as an institution that promotes innovation, excellence, and sustainability.
The Entrepreneurship Unit of the University of Western Macedonia warmly congratulates its students for their excellent performance and hopes for the success of their ideas in the market.
